I just recently purchased an '89 F350 7.3l and have done mainly day driving. But recently I discovered on some night drives my lamps begin to flicker after driving for awhile. The truck uses both headlights and the plow lights on the front mount as well when I am driving at night, at all times. The problem occurs after driving for a period of time and now seems to be getting worse. It use to take an hour before they all started to flicker on and off (all four lights) and then to a half hour and now it seems like 15-20mins. they now begin to flicker. I recently replaced the dimmer switch and connector (low beams were not working and yes, the lights still flickered before) but it never cured the flickering light issue. My only guess is the flickering is due to the heating up of the lamps too much? Guesses on how to cure this problem?
~All help is greatly appreciated! -Justin.
Headlight switch getting hot,,, they have a thermal breaker inside.. Contacts get some age and don't make good contact, heat up, lights go on and off...
Cure? New headlight switch, and check the plug to the wiring harness, if it shows any wires discolored or insulation trying to melt replace it too.. NAPA has the switch and plug. Other parts stores should too.

Alright, sounds good. Will be making a trip to NAPA after class tomorrow and hopefully that's the cure. Thank you very much for the help!
