Tire Size selection Help

Thinking of upgrading tire’s on my 2001 F250 SD from 265/75-16 with factory suspension to either 285/75-16 or even 295/75-16 , Will I run to any issues if I go with the 295/75-16 like rubbing or any clearance issues what so ever …?<O</O
If I go with the 295/75-16 how much it will effect my GMPH and speedometer .What is the most ideal brand and treads for in town and HWY daily use ..Thanks for all inputs

Is it 2WD or 4WD? In either case I think you could get away with 285/75-16, but you can easily confirm with a quick trip or call to Discount Tire or the equivalent in your area.

285's will work no prob..thats what im running, stock suspension, i do have aftermarket wheels but only 16x8 instead of 16x7 no issues full lock in and out of driveways.. filled up wheel wells nice, not to much, but world of difference from the 265's

Go BIG or GO HOME!!!
jk
I ran 305's with a little rubbing
Its all user preference!
285 is the most common and safe upgrade, but you can go to a 295/305 no problem
consider a 2" leveling kit!!!!
def post pics, what tires you are considering!

Do the FX4's sit any higher?

I recently acquired an 03' 250 FX4, and it really looks like its sitting higher then most other and newer 4x4 250/350's. I know its 100% stock(that's till I just bought it ), with work out 265's .

I'm just looking for the largest tire I could go with, with out really killing the MPG/Acceleration.

I was eying up 285/75, but 305/70 are not that much bigger, only wider and have a bit more of an aggressive look. I would be running with aftermarket 16x8 with an offset of -6mm and 4.25" backspacing.
Any input would be appreciated.

i called my local tire shop yesterday and inquired about the tire size option, As many of you mentioned that the 285/75-16 will work perfect also 295/75-16 will work with no rubbing issue .They also mentioned that 285 will offer more better tire list/selection to choose from when comes to HWY or all season tires ...etc, Vs 295's which will limit me to few selection and more aiming towards all- Terrain /off road ..Etc which is less ideal for HWY any input on that ...And really how much of a Diff between the 295's Vs the 285's ..

Depends on if you really need A/T or if you just want them for rugged looks. BFG A/T KOs and Michelin M/S 2s are completely different tires. But they BOTH are very long wearing tires, IMO both good for 60k mi or so if properly cared for.

I am going to replace the BFGs I got on a used truck with Michelins because I want a quiet, safe, and dependable highway tire. I bought the F350 7.3L to tow a family 5th wheel around with, and I think those are the best choice for my needs.

I don't think they look as cool and if you are doing construction work or have a need to use your truck of road, the Michelins are not going to perform the same.

The tires are made for different jobs and you have to decide which performance measures are important to you.
