I just returned from Sturgis towing my toy hauler. When I got back to Pa (hills etc) I started smelling burnt tranny fluid. I got under the truck and saw it was over the pan etc like it sprayed out. I think there is a blow out when they get hot but im not sure. I cleaned it off and it didn't happen again. My temp was approx 210 at the time. I do have the 6.0 cooler in my truck. The fluid looks pink still and dosen't smell burnt. I did hear some small beeps a few times under the dash but i have no clue as to what that was. other than that i had no issues. Just curious.. thanks Jeff
My first thought would be the pump seal leaking from the trans getting hot, but 210 isn't that hot, unless the seal is just getting weak in its age.
They usually reseal themselfs after the trans cools.
Now the beeping....I heard a simular beeping when I was pulling a hill with my 5'r. Sounded like it came from the PCM area, and I have no idea what it was. Almost sounded like a solenoid tapping out morse code.
Curious to see what others have to say.
