im looking to make a draglink to go from my manual steering box to my install stock dana 60 front axle. i was wondering if anyone knows what the taper is and such for the stock 75 arm and the stock 78 d60 front arm
i took my stock ps ram and draglink valve off and sold it and want to just be able to move it around the farm to get it outa the way once in a while or pull trees down and dont need or am not ready for the intragal PS upgrade yet.
thinking if i knew the taper and such i could just get a couple tie rode ends and a threaded sleave thats common at the parts stores.
welli think i got something going i got a stock on off a snowfighter and cut it in half then rotated it 90 deg or so and welded it back togeather with some angle iron, should hold up around the farm.
The typical Ford taper (as used on a 79 Bronco D44) is 7 degrees. Head on over to Speedway Motors for a reamer... Go slow and remember to only turn it in one direction.
XKUT (ebay it) offers really nice and sharp reamers.

ya i got one of them reamers, its the big gm taper one. works great. maybe i should ream it out to gm later after i convert it to intergal power steering.
I just checked my reamer and it has a taper of 1.5 inches per foot.
FWIW: I don't think ya need to ream it to GM specs. I swapped to integral PS on my rig and the drum equipped D44 steering arms just needed to be reamed for the 79 Bronco tie rods. The tie rod shanks/studs are much thicker on the Bronco and I didn't have enough stick-out to seat the nut and cotter pin.
