Well yesterday I was under the truck changing the oil, greasing all my fitting when I noticed my PS pump was starting to leak.
I don't really want to use any of the parts house (AutoZone, Advance, and so on) reman. pump so my plan is to go OEM, but I was wondering if there is a pump out there that may be better then OEM? Mine has lasted me 273647 mile so that's why I'm leaning oem.
Is it leaking from the shaft seal, or from the pressure fitting on the rear?

Pop,
It's not from a pressure fitting it looks more like a shaft seal or reservoir seal. I'm getting ready to wash the motor compartment now and see if I can narrow it down some?
it is interesting that i got on today for the first time in a while and saw this post.
I am in the same boat. Noticed some oil in my front drivers wheel well so I pulled the fender liner and cleaned everythign up with brake clean thinking a PS line was leaking. I noticed no line leaks and it appears the pump is leaking on mine too.
Ill be interested to see what pump is suggested. I knew I didnt want reman stuff either.
You will need to remove the cover that the alternator and power sterring pump sit on. A total of 6 bolts (3 on the alternator and 3 on the cover itself) will get it off and make it much easier for you to swap the pump.
I just replaced my pump with a reman. I flushed the system with mobil 1 and the new pump whines a lot. It seems underpowered too. I am too looking at buying an OEM pump unless everybody thinks I would do fine warranting this pump. Any thoughts?
I just saw this since I am here for 10th gen PSD help and this might not be the case for you guys with newer trucks and PSD motors but I know in the 8th and 9th gen trucks there is a saginaw pump that we replace the OEM one with quite commonly. The 8th and 9th gen PSP's whined a TON... The saginaw doesn't seem to do that at all and lasts longer than the OEM pump. Maybe something worth looking into...
