78 f150. 3'' body lift, 31'' at's, a rigged in 390/c6. the pics suck and hide the fact that it was painted by the po with house paint and a roller/brush and had a metric crap ton of rust. the drop in bed liner was my bed floor but man did those pipes sound sweet, lol. biggest waste of $2k a 16 year old could make.
EDIT: the gold chevy in the background of pic #2 was actually my first truck. i promptly sold it for a $3k profit to that neighbor and have been a ford man ever since.
pretty cool, damn you southwester guys. i wish i knew what it was like to see original classics without rust. hell, up here i see 5 year old super duties already starting to rust up.
oh belive me... it aint rust free. i use to have a camper on there and were all the holes in the bed were that held it rust is around. so little spots of rust and near the front of the bed was a spare tank that was covored with wood. were what ever those support wholes you call in the bed are are all rusted through. the paint is all oxidised (i bet you call that color silver eh? its suppose to be a dark blue... xD) my grandpa took good care of that truck in the motor area... but because it sat out front in the driveway the neighbors were too GAWD DAM inconsiderate and turned the sprinklers on and let it hit the truck EVERYDAY for the passed 20 YEARS my gramps had it parked. still pissed about it... can ya tell? but other then how it runs and interior are pretty good... it needs alot of cosmetics but yea up were your at there alot of moisture right? i wouldnt doubt rust would form pretty quick lol
not so much moisture as it is illinois uses salt for snow 3-5 months of the year, in excess here's some pics to show how bad my f350 went in one year from salt.
day after i bought it:
a year later, bad pic, but if you look close you can see the front wheel wells already have rot started:
and after 2 years it turned to this and slowly went worse. notice how the paint went to hell as well. after 3-4 years of washing and polishing/waxing i gave up as i knew it was a losing battle to sun/salt
ouch.... yea mine is not as bad with the rust... just the oxidised paint and the scratches from people puttin in my truck.. expet the one small dent i put in the hood trying to clean the windshield... xD no one else can see it... i notice it everytime
Here's mine....Ethel....She was a 1994 F-150 XL, 300/E4OD.....Bought her at the tender age of 226k miles....Drove the living bejeezus of her for 2 years.....And had to scrap her at 278k miles....
Paid $700 for her and drove her home...
Well....
TECHNICALLY....I had a cruddy 1989 S-10 first.....But it was a chevy, and too crappy to even mention first...Not to mention I kept that POS for about a month....
Yeap...I sure miss the ole girl.....Literally every time I turn the key on in Michelle (My current 92 in my avatar) I wish to God it was Ethel I was starting up....
my first truck was a 49 international L-190 single axle tractor with a six cylinder gas engine and a quad box trans. no pics of it, but it looked like this one
i started driving it at age 13, and drove it till i was 18 when i bought MY first truck, a 66 dodge W-300 power wagon, with a 225 six cylinder and 4 speed trans. kinda like this, except with a pickup box instead of the utility body.
