Hello,
New here, again,
Bought my truck new (2008 F250 SD CC 4x4 LB) in Aug. of 2007 and was pleased at first. Didn't buy it for gas milage (thank god) but to pull a large boat. It performs that task admirably.
Here are my concerns:
- When cold the truck has a loud roar ... almost like the fan clutch has locked up ...but that isn't the case. I took it to the dealer and asked about it and was quickly told "they all sound like that".
After it warms up it doesn't roar.
- When I first got the truck it got about 9-10 MPG around town (empty) and about 12-13 on the highway (empty) ... now it gets about 7.5 around town and maybe 10 on highway!
It only has 19K on it now and oil and all filters have been maintained properly since new.
I know these V10s aren't known for their MPGs but I wonder what would have caused such a drastic change in milage in such a short time (well short as far as milage on the truck)??
Also do all of your trucks sound like an A7 Corsair when cold??
Just wondering if I should have the dealer do a reflash? (shouldn't it be covered since I am still in the 5 year/50K warranty period)
My truck roars at first and it is the fan clutch. Only does it for 20 seconds or so and I believe it is normal.
Pop your wheels off and see if your brakes are dragging. It's very common for the caliper slide pins to stick on these trucks causing the pads to drag. This will cause a hit in fuel mileage.
