Texas Fires

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I would like to take a moment to add those affected by the fires throughout Texas to each and everyones prayer list. I know of a couple of people who have lost everything except the things they were able to grab in the last 15 minutes before having to evacuate only to return and find nothing remaining. A terrible and horrible way to lose everything you own.

May the Lord look over all those affected by the fires, floods, and other catastrophies.

It sure is dry out here. We've had a few fires fairly close, but nothing like some have had to endure. Still enough to make you nervous. Remember to attend or participate in any of the local VFD fundraisers if they have one near you. These guys are stretched thin and need all the help they can get.

For those not familiar with how bad things are down here, it looks like the dead of winter with all the vegetation dead as we go through possibly the worst drought in our history. We've also lost over 3.5 million acres to fire this season. US Drought Monitor

My best to everyone out there in Texas right now..

Some people may not be aware of how quickly wild fire can spread. Check out this video. Remember, this is on flat ground. Fire can travel up to 10 times faster up a hill.

The fires in Montgomery County are about 20 miles from us. Lots of smoke and ash here.

Texas Outlaw, I feel for you. I just pray the fire is contained sooner rather than later. Stay safe and inventory everything you have with a camera or camcorder. Document everything just in case you need it. I have talked with two individual families who are at a loss. They are not certain of what was in the house, garage, and shop. They are just wishing they had taken the time to photograph or record what they had. So please take this time to document what you have and make a pact to try an update it every other year or so. Just my two cents.
