On my F-150 I have no headlights, I do have parking lights and turn signals. I think my problem is in the turn signal switch.
Before the head lights kicked out, they flashed and were dim, I gigged the turn signal switch, they where fine, then I made a right hand turn and that was it for the head lights.
They have been acting up for awhile now, I just kept hitting the turn signal switch.
I just want to make sure this is the problem and to see if I can fix it before paying 90.00 sum dollars @ the dealer.
Thanks Stampede.
Yes it sure could be the multifunction switch. Before replacing it though I'd pull the covers off the steering column to get at it and make sure the connectors are plugged in tight and not burned or corroded.
$90 at the dealer? Bring it to me I'll fix it for $20 and a case of Bud. I can't believe what other mechanics charge. I got a pretty good little shade tree operation going.
Call Lawton Auto Parts at 580-355-7757. It's a Ford only salvage yard. I go there a lot. If it exists they can get it. It won't be long before they're stocking used 6.0 diesel parts. These guys are magicians. If they won't mail it to ya I'll pick it up for you and I will. Another good one is Corley's at 580-355-0627. They ask a little more but the guy will dicker on the price.

When you have to pay rent on a building, 5 differnt kind of insurance, taxes, lease on the lifts, utilities, accounting fees etc its starts to get up there.
Sure anyone can do it cheaper in their backyard if they know how. But there is a reason that shop rates are what they are and its not becaues they're trying to rip you off. As far as professional services go, Auto shop rates are pretty cheap!
Update, pulled the multifunction switch, took it all apart, found a copper contact was burnt. Cleaned all the contacts, works better then before, I'll see how long this lasts.
Stampede.
Well, for the switch to be burned like that there is too much current (amperage) going through it. Check your light bulbs and make sure they are all the correct wattage and amperage. One of your lights is drawing too much current so start at the bulb and work your way back to the switch.
