the engine is skipping and sputtering when its cold and try to accelerate, after driving for about 2-3 miles and it develops some heat this condition goes away. it appears, to me, to be temperature related. it is worse in the morning after the truck has sat over night. it happens again after I leave work, but seems to clear up faster and not be as bad.
any ideas what to look for? I have replaced both fuel filters and the air filter. I also cleaned the MAF sensor.
to me, it feels like its starving for fuel when it happens.
maybe it needs a tune up (new spark plugs and wires)
Mine does the same thing I think it has something to do with what most call injector stiction I ordered some rev-x to put in the oil to see if it helps there are a lot of people that say its great so I guess ill see
I have no codes and have a new ficm and my voltage for it stays at 49 so I'm thinkin stiction I realize that just because its and voltage is showing good doesn't mean I don't have a ficm problem I'm just gona try this first keepin my fingers crossed

does your oil smell like diesel fuel or are you making oil
I hooked the scan tool this morning before I started the truck, outside temp was roughly 65 (F) degrees. engine coolant temp was 68 degrees and Intake air temp was 70 degrees, but the Engine Oil Temp was reading 105 degrees ! is that possible, or is there a problem?
FICM voltage is sitting at 49v, which seems to be normal.
My engine oil is clean, not over full and doesn't smell like fuel.

even though that oil temp sensor isnt working right It shouldnt cause any drivabilty issues
Watch that oil leval mine it took awhile to really catch it making oil
If my truck does start making oil what would that mean
Worn injector O-rings usually
or a cracked head but this is not common
this was an issue for me
and when winter came it got worse it was around 60,000miles on truck they would only leak untill warm then they would seal
in the end I would make a quart of oil every 2 weeks or so
since I fixed this my bell housing dried up and so did the bed plate seal
truck runs Great at startup harsh cold tranney shift gone
But just keep in mind cuz your FICM volts was good doesnt mean its running 100%
Stiction or you have a ficm going out. You need to test the ficm. Procedure in the tech folder. Also check for codes.
checked PCM for codes today and no fault codes. I did the FICM test procedure as described in the Tech folder. I get 49.5V with key on and during engine cranking. FICM does appear to be recently replaced, since its all bright, shiny and clean.
whats next? any other suggestions? I am wondering if the Engine Oil Temp sensor reading incorrectly maybe causing some issues
If your using 15W40 oil you could try 5W40 synthetic. And make sure that your running OEM filters. Rotells T6 is priced reasonably at Walmart and O'Reilly's.
