I'm pretty sure that they are plain old 5/16 bolts....with fine threads (so 5/16-24 UNF). A lot of the body parts on these trucks was bolted together with 5/16 fine thread bolts....there are a few places with 3/8" bolts...like the bolts that hold the inner fender to the radiator support...those are also fine thread bolts.

I was actually talking about the large bolt that fits through spring...
Just as I suspected, and remembered, the bolt is of special construction. It has a mushroom tip at the bottom in order to engage the hood latch.
As per the parts manual (see pictures below), it's part # 1C-16929 and is 3.66" long. The 48-50 uses the same bolt, but it's 5" long and has a part # 7C-16929. The 48-50 also utilizes a separate 7/16"-20 nut. The nut on a 51-52 hood assembly is welded to the hood. I would assume that it's also a 7/16"-20 thread.
I doubt that you'll find this special bolt at your local hardware or auto parts store. If you're set on finding an original, then I suggest trying Green Sales Co in Ohio and/or Antique Auto Supply in Arlington, TX. Otherwise, I'd spend the money and have the existing bolt re-threaded to the correct specs.
They really aren't that different from dozens of other vehicles that use that kind of latch. The head on mine measures 1-1/8" diameter at the widest part, and the bolt needs to stick down from the underside of the hood at least 2-1/4", so is probably a 3" overeall length. It's useless without the spring and cup to match tho, so grab them too.
Have the assembly just have a messed up bolt that needs re threaded but thought I might could find for less than the machine shop wants for re threading this one.
