Hey guys, I just got my new hawk pads in and went to put them on and apparently I also need to upgrade my calipers as well? The slides the should slide into are not nearly big enough. What else do I need to make them work? Guess I should of done my homework..dohhhh..
I apologise, the brake pad has a tab on top and bottom and the groove it slides into that holds it in place is too small for the new hawk performance pads that are bigger and won't fit. Looks like I need upgraded calipers?
I installed Hawk SD pads on my truck with no problems. Are you sure everything is being put together properly? Maybe by chance you got the wrong ones sent to you?
Interesting..maybe I did? I didn't think so though. Maybe by some odd chance I got something mixed up, now I feel like a dumb***!! Every other brake pad I've ever put on has been easy peasy so there must have been a mix up. Anyway, have you guys noticed enhance braking?
( http://www.riffraffdiesel.com/mm5/me...ode=F731-BP-HP ) right there's the webpage, now on each side of those pads are those tabs, and there too big to fit back where my old pads came from. I must be doing something wrong if nobody else has had a problem though. Which is strange because this is all pretty straight forward, I only tried the rears though, I'll try the fronts next.
...I just opened up the front pad packages. Should of done that first. Boy do I feel dumb. Sorry guys, I definitly got the packages mixed up and should of just checked the other box. I've never changed the pads on a superduty though and just assumbed everything was the same. But, while I've got your attention, how do you guys feel about the pads? I'm hoping for better stopping power with my trailers and campers. Thank you guys and again, I apologise for embarassing myself..
Glad it was something as simple as not realizing the fronts weren't interchangeable with the rears.
My rotors were garbage, so it would be difficult for me to quantify how much better the Hawk pads are over stock, because anything I did to my brakes (both F250 and Excursion) would be a huge improvement over what I had. And that almost includes Fred Flinstoning it!
Haha yes, I just had brand new tires mounted and alighnment done and was notified my pads were almost gone so I ordered front and back pads from Riffraff, my last truck was an f 150 so I had no idea but should of realised to check the other package. Oh well. You live and you learn.
