Need Help Replacing Window Motor on Ford Explorer
How do I separate the window motor from the cable assembly on the rear door of my 1994 Ford Explorer?
The cable works fine so I don't want to remove the entire assembly and regulator, only the motor. Is it possible to remove only the motor?
What I have already done:
Two window motors are defective on my 1994 Ford Explorer. I have already removed the one on the front left door. Now I am trying to remove the one on the right rear door. However, the rear door configuration is different from the front door in that the rear windows use a cable machanism rather than a gear mechanism used in the front doors.
To disengage the window motor/cable drive assembly from the door, I had to remove three screws. (These require a square-drive screwdriver.) To get to the third screw I had to remove the speaker and drill out the dimple with a 1/2" bit to all access to the screw. (Must use 1/2" bit, anything less will not allow the large (approx. 1/2") screw head to come through.)
Current Situation:
Now the motor/cable assembly is hanging loose inside the door.
