i live in new york and the past few weeks it has been raining the majority of the time. i have a '96 with the 351 and when its raining it runs like crap. and this isnt good because it is also my plow truck. It feels like it is loading up and missing. it dosnt do it constantly but more so when it is under load it seems, but only when its raining. i changes the cap, rotor and wires about a month ago because it wouldnt even start when it was wet out. if anyone could help i would appreciate it, it is driving me nuts.
Is the rubber flap seal between the hood and cowl still on the truck. Might be driping water on the engine, Are the fender wells and seals still there?
For soem reason I am pictureing water splashing or dripping onto the ignitiong system and causing a misfire.
What does the air filter look like? I had a truck do this when the paper air filter looked like it was torn to hell. Would constantly cough and stumble after trying to take off from a light.
the air filter looks good i must be electrical but i need to find out what part it only does it when it is wet out any ideas on what part of the ignition to check out
You might try wetting it yourself to try to find the problem.
I knew a man that had the same problem, he replaced the spark plus, wires, module, button, cap, and coil, and no fix. Turn out he was leaking around the windshield and getting the computer wet.
