Took my 2011 F350KR truck in for a service at 34,000km(8000 km oil change) with the check engine light on and they said the code thrown was a DEF pump failure. The gal at the service counter said there were no pumps available and it may take a while to get one in. I got pressure to rent a replacement vehicle after asking about a loaner vehicle while the warranty work was completed. Got tag teamed from the service gal and the service writer gal suggesting I should have purchased the extended warranty. I left the counter before I lost it, found my sales manager who within 10 minutes had a pump coming and loaner vehicle keys in my hand. What a terrible first experience with the service counter while requiring warranty work on an $80K truck purchased 10 months ago.
I was going to wait to purchase extended warranty coverage just prior to the 3 year mark but maybe there would be a need if any other warranty work pops up.
Thank goodness for the sales staff at my dealership for going the distance.
Amazing to hear how differently you were treated between the sales and service departments at your dealer. I wonder why your sales manager was able to get a pump ordered when the service guys couldn't?
