That can cause a big drop in fuel economy, and the valve definitely shouldn't be moving at nearly 80 degrees. I suspect your sensor may be bad, but give that tube cleaning a try. I'm not sure if that affects the butterfly valve at the outlet, but it's worth a shot.
I would like to clean mine just to see, since my truck has 160k it is a year 2000 engine
also why do people "gut" the ebpv? what are the benefits?
Check the link in my above post on how to clean it.
As far as benefits, less reistriction, no more oil leak or sticky valve potential, and lower EGT's. You can't use it as an exhaust brake any longer, but other than that, you probably wouldn't miss it.
thanks for helping me with that now one more question during the rest off this week im not driving my truck but saturday iv gotta go to a funeral thats 400 miles away then i gotta drive my truck all next weekend so do i need to do this asap or could it wate till next weekend?
It's really easy. The way I did it was I got some speedo cable from autozone for $8 and a can of brake cleaner. Put the speedo cable in a drill and put the speedo cable in the tube. Worked great.
