trouble with turn signals while parking lights are on

you probably know this so forgive me if it sounds dumb but there are two flashers under the dash, one for hazards and one for the turn signals. IIRC the turn signal flasher fits into a square hole in the left side of the dash, in the area of the headlight switch, maybe just a little below it. I had a runaround with the two flashers, one would work for awhile then the other then they both worked for like 30 mins then both quit. Still not sure what I did to make them both work, unless changing out the sockets up front did it but they all work now and have for a month.
edit: this is a long shot but make sure the grey half moon shaped plug is plugged in under the dash, I believe its the one coming from the column , the tab that locks it together got broke somewhere down the line on mine and it came loose once, lost all blinkers etc.

thanks, I'll check the half moon connector tomorrow. I had to replace my turn signal switch so it got move around, but I might have kicked it loose. as for the flashers, they are dangling under the dash, they are no where near where they were meant to be. I think it is something in the dash. How do I unhook the speedo cable to take out the entire instrument panel? I can get everything unhooked and unfastened, but that.

Reach in behind the speedo. Grab the white plastic collar and while pushing it toward the housing press down on the front of the tang I am pointing to. When you feel move toward the cable , pull it out.
