Air bag sensor keeps tripping

I took the kids to the beach this weekend and we drove on the sand shortly after driving back onto pavement the airbag sensor on my dash came on. It doesn't stay on and sometimes it flashes. This is my first diesel and with the V10 I had I could disconnect the battery and that would reset the sensor. Doing that didn't work here. Other than take it to the dealer and have it checked, does anyone have an idea?
Much appreciation and thanks to all.

You need to get the codes read from the restraint module. Air bags are not something to be guessing about.

Although that isn't what I wanted to hear I assumed it to be my only option. I do appreciate the second opinion.

. UPDATE!! Well I took my truck into Ford and the reason the airbag sensor was coming on and off was the clock spring was bad. $500. Later and now my cruise control works again also. Whoohoo. I personally had never heard of a clock spring but I guess when it goes out it takes your steering wheel controls hostage.
