Homeless no more!
So, its been busy to say the least. We had been hoping to find a mover that might be able to start in a couple weeks, not the next day. We had a lot of prep work to do in one day. We did not even have the exact location picked out. Here are a few picture walking through the process of moving a house.
First of all, this isn't a trailer house with wheels, so you cant just hook a truck up to it and drive off. It has to be lifted up and placed on a beam system, that will have wheels under it.

Hydraulic jacks are used to lift the house from the beams placed under it.

Large beams running lengthwise are then placed under the smaller beams. These beams will have the wheels set under them.

Now, at this point I left the location, as I had a lot of dirt work to do before the house got to where it was going. I don't have any pictures since it was dark, but we had to build an approach where there was only a ditch. Here are my toys.

This Cat is miles ahead of a Bobcat skid steer. We had two Bobcats (big ones, can't remember the model numbers) before we got this Cat, and there is no comparison.

Digging in sewer lines:

Location leveled, and sewer lines in:

While all of this work is happening, the house is on its way. It has a little over 100 miles to get to its new location. They called me when it got closer. Its a little weird looking in my mirrors and seeing our house following me.

500 HP Kenworth did the pulling duties.

Our nice wide approach was almost not wide enough!

Backing it into place.

Movers doing their stuff. The mover told me that I was the only owner that was actually a help rather than a hindrance since he has started. I was underneath placing blocks, and doing whatever I could to help. Personally, I would feel rather worthless standing around watching while 4 guys did all this work.

Me mowing the front yard with a brushcat. This thing will turn two inch trees into sawdust like your mower mulches grass.

Finally, the house being lowered.

Its down!

Here is the view out the front window. I think it will do nicely.

I just wanted to thank everyone for their help and support. Things were looking pretty bad there for a while, and my wife was getting a little downtrodden, with being 6 months pregnant and still homeless. Things are really starting to look up, and we have many of you to thank for that!

my front porch view in suburbia, shows a neighbors house 50ft away, part of a cow pasture and a giant city water tower.
