There is a small particle speck that is under the clear coat of my truck. It's located on the driver side rear bed fender. I can actually feel the bump from the speck when I run my finger on the surface. I took it into the local dealership, and they said that they can probably repaint the entire bed side under warranty. We probably won't get an answer from Ford until tomorrow (Tuesday), but the service advisor and service manager were pretty confident they would cover it. My big concern would be the quality of the paint job. The would be doing the paint job at the dealership. I know the quality won't be the same as the factory. They said the new paint job would be covered under the factory warranty, but I'm still leary. I'm almost tempted to live with the imperfection. I just wanted to get some opinions.
have you noticed the orange peel look in the paint? A friend has a solid white f-350, I have a silver F-250 and if you look at the paint in the light just right you can see the orange peel in the paint. He owns a body shop and pointed this out to me, he says all the new trucks have it
The truck is Oxford White, and the speck is black. Although it is a small particle, it's visible from 2-3 feet away.
that is a bad combo there. i can understand that if you pay $50,000 plus for a truck you would want the paint job to be perfect, but at the same time if you have the dealer paint it then you have humans doing the painting instead of robots.

It would be nice if FOMOCO would offer to just exchange the entire bed for another one in Oxford White.
I wonder if Ford would send a replacement panel, on the other hand I trust my dealer could redo it perfect but I think every shop is a little different.
Funny, I have the same defect of my rear driver side door as well.
In the old days, disgruntled auto workers were known to throw trash in the doors before assembly as a form of protest over their contract situation. Maybe the robots are upset that the humans are getting the more challenging jobs!
Being white is a big plus for you, but I would take factory defects over repaint any day. If they repaint it you will be able to tell. They can only duplicate so much of the factory orange peel. I had a factory defect on my passenger door of my last truck that was covered under warranty so I had them redo it. Didn't match very well, no orange peel, smooth as glass and the color was off. Granted my color of choice is Sterling Gray which I would say any metallic color is difficult to match. It was very easy to tell it had been repainted vs the other factory paint. I was concerned that once I went to resale someone might think it had been wrecked. Long story short, after a lot of hassle and back and forth negotiations, I got them to provide me a new truck in exchange for mine. To save you the heart and headache I say live with the defect, I think you'll be much happier. My new truck has all kinds of factory defects, I think they all do cause I haven't found a perfect one yet (I'm very picky), and I'm proud of each and every one of them after that experience
