PLEASE HELP MAJOR PROBLEM

Hey i have a 1996 f250 7.3 4x4
The day of the problem i jump started my moms 1999 ford explorer 4.0 v6 maybe this caused everything i dont know?
Ten mins later she called and said she was broke down well i got there and her alternator had went out so on the way to get a new one my truck through a check engine light and it started missing and stopped in the road. I cut it off and ran my programmer to see what the code was and the only one was P040 exhaust back pressure code which has always been on there and never set a check engine light, and there wasnt any other codes on there. So i cranked it up and the light went off and i made it to the parts store and they ran a D tool also and it would not show any codes. So i drove it home and i took the exhaust back pressure sensor off and cleaned it and the pipe and when i cranked it up it just started hopping like its way out of time or something so i next went and got a cam position sensor put it on and the same thing, so i got another one because i know they made a few different ones that year and still the same thing. Could jump starting her car have blew up my pcm, or could i still just have the wrong cam sensor or could the exhaust back pressure be doing this. Please i really need help i dont have alot of money and Im 18 years old and i leave Sept 10 to go to college at Nashville Auto Diesel and this is the only vehicle i have and i really have to get it fixed so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You and God Bless

Sounds like a coincidence , my bet it is a burned or loose under valve cover harness ...Next time its missing , unplug the valve cover connections one at a time . the one that makes the least difference in the way it runs is the bad one . It can also be the IDM , take it out and shake it , listen for water .

If you can do a buzz test , it will help get the code ...

The parts store scanner wont read a stroke. Where did the cps come from. How hard were you on it when the Cel threw. What programmer do you have? And make sure the fuel filter is clean.

Just for grins

Unplug the EBP sensor and see how it runs and let us know.
