Im fond of the old 12 gauge. Nothing a robber in the dark fears more than the sound of someone racking a shell in a shotgun.

ya shotgun works well
make youre truck look like mad max drives it they wont bother you much aint never had mine messed with
also the ip wire can be put on a switch to prevent theft of the vehicle
youcan wire a switch in youre toolbox etc. that will turn off the horn mod
horn mod is you wire a spare horn to the door chime button so when the door is opened the horn goes off cheap alarm and no one suspects a horn espically with a aftermarket bumper they will just think its a spare horn im going to do this when i get the airhorns i want to get

Now, I (never) carried a gun on campus, ha, but when I was in school, I didn't fear being robbed, shot or beat up and I went to school in a bad town in a very liberal state. My suggestion is to not carry anything of value in the truck. Maybe a kill switch and leave the doors unlocked. Nothing like an old truck that a criminal can't find anything of value in and can't start.

I won't go into guns or ammo that I may not even own for other reasons. but yeah, I definitely don't have near enough weapons for a small army, etc. Yeah, I really don't. Seriously.

I understand that you most likely have to park your truck in a parking lot with no security and you are in classes for 6-8 hours a day and no way to check on your truck in-between classes.

I'm not typing this; this is some one else. If you want truly effective superior force, you could rig up a directional force C-4 charge pre-loaded with shrapnel to your dome light. Install a remote disarm switch, first. The next time the door is opened and the switch is not disarmed, BOOM! You just fixed some creep's wagon, for good.

I never did any of this, so anyone mislead by the above should reconsider........

eaton very interesting but i hear blood stains interior good thing mines red!!!!
anyway the best is an alarm of some sort and a kill switch any vehicle can be broken into and any alarm can be disarmed thats the problem its all about where you sit between practical and secure yes we can all buy vans and have 8 hired gaurds with assult rifles sit in our van at all times but..... again practical? no. secure? hell ya.
most of us deal with kids and common criminals. and most of them will run away from an alarm as its not worth getting caught for whatever is there. thats the simplicity of a simple alarm. but with an alarm comes a few good points. most crooks will look for an alarm first some will shy away some will try and bypass as 90% of car alarms dont sound if you cut a few wires without doing something to set off the alarm. so run wires in stock harnesses or out of the way so they cannot be reached from outside. then you have 2 options an sticker from an alarm company will deter some but will make the smart ones actually look for the alarm. with all this you see why i like the extra horn thing and it can be fully intrigrated into the stock system without even being noticed. and all it takes is a switch to turn on and off hidden somewhere just if its in the toolbox make sure you get something out of the box when you turn off the switch or youll give it away

My dads old 79 had a kill switch hidden in the tape player that you could flip with your finger through the tape slot.

my 65 falcon has a micro switch hooked up in the ash tray. pull it out, and it runs. push it in, and the coil power lead is grounded. it was like this when i bought it and only found out about it when i pushed in the ashtray and the car shut off. it took me 3 days to figure out why i lost spark.

but i think the best theft prevention is to park one of these in the driveway:

we have zero problems with 4 police cars plus mine on the same block.

You guys do realize that you most likely will go to jail for a long time if you shoot someone who is stealing your vehicle and not threatening your safety in doing so?????

I had trouble with the dead skin down the road from me stealing gas at night, so i put out a 5 gal. can of doped up gas next to my parking area and a week later it was gone.
So, I sacrificed a cheap old gas jug, but I've never had gas stolen again!

As the guy that did my ccw class said, "empty the mag into them a dead man can't contridict your story". I figure that if enough of the low lifes get nailed it would send a message that it is safer to be honest than a thief. Besides in Ky. you can legally shoot a person for trying to commit arson or destroy your property. If they come into your house univited you can go get a gun and shoot them dead. Gotta love living here. I have always made it clear to everyone around me that I believe in shooting first and calling the cops seconds. Maybe that is why our stuff don't get messed with!
