High quality contacts in a relay have silver in them. Of course silver is expensive.
I know this.
Standard Automotive Products denotes this with an 'S' or 'SS' suffix on their part number.
I'd rather buy a $55 starter WITH a solenoid than a $95 solenoid.
I switched to the PMGR starter on my 460, not only does it not overload the Chinese crap solenoids, but it will crank a real hot 460 with no problems. Archion can get PMGR starters for most Fords.
Numberdummy, I work in a testing laboratory (at least till 1 Dec) you aren't telling me a thing about crappy 3rd world metals.
I know its been a couple of weeks since I posted this thread but I recently have had a chance to take another crack at it. I finally figured out that those two screws (that I didn't have a clue of what they did) where getting in the way. They are designed to help the the shift socket and upper flange stay together. What I did incorrectly was tighten the screws down prior to installing the upper flange. This caused the upper flange not to seat all they way and hence the problem. Thanks again for all the insight. On the one hand it can be stressful getting myself into these situations but in the end I always learn so much more than I anticipated.
