Once I get some more service done on the truck and get the parts I'll be putting the coolent filter on, which by what I've read will help out with some of the crap in the coolent. I wish I new the previous owner and anything he did to the truck so I don't waste time and such, of course you get what you get, especially in a used vehicle.
Once I get the material to drain/flush/VC-9 and install coolent filter and refill coolent and check guages after. I used the SGII on my previous truck and yes it help a lot, I am still thinking of installing a Edge CTS that will also have connected the Exhaust Temp, so I can really know my tempature of the exhaust since SGII dosen't show it. The only bad thing about a SGII is you can't set alarm set points for items, with the CTS I'll be able to set alarm points so I know if I am getting in trouble.
My new oil cooler will hold 15* spread in stop & Go uphill,downhill,45mph-90mph it dont matter what the driving condition it will hold the spread usually 8-10* Hwy and 4-6* city
Havent towed so IDK about that but some people say theres will hold a 15* spread while in tow
Its good to have a controlled test but dont stress about it to hard
Just by your EOT of 220* I can tell it was fulley warmed up
EOT 220 and a ECT 199
your oil cooleer is on its way out
and if its the same oil cooler it came with in 04 then I dont think its going to flush very good Its probably packed full
If its warrenty good Id try to get a new oil cooler put in SOON
do you have a round or square egr cooler
I am glad my numbers are pretty much mirror yours Benny, it makes me feel somewhat comfortable. I will feel much better when I get a flush done and a filter installed.
Well I just ran another over 20 mile trip on the highway, the information came out as follows.
Beginning of trip at 70 mph, 208 EOT, 191 ECT, 9.9 BST ambiant air of 88d.
At 20 miles got 67 mph, 215 EOT, 191 ECT, 4.7 BST, ambiant air of 91d.
I ran this whole trip with the speed control, except for the very end since I got in a little traffic.
By my calculations that is over the 15d seperation that Ford recommends. I will be getting with my warrenty and since by what I'm reading it is probably the oil cooler starting to fail, but since most warrentys are for gas vehicles I have to confirm the oil cooler whould be under warrenty. I will also have them flush the coolent and clean everything out that they can, once I get enough I will also be putting a cooler filter on to help out.
When I started the vehicle I checked everything, I had it showing RPM which was within range, I have it running at normal rate, I even watched transmission tempature and looking at the range for the dummy guage and what SG was showing it was within range
Make sure they replace the EGR cooler also. The plugged oil cooler may have compromised the integrity of the EGR cooler, so it can still fail even after the oil cooler has failed.
I believe there is a TSB somewhere that says to replace the EGR cooler with the oil cooler. If someone knows that TSB number they can post it so you can show it to the warranty company.

especialy if you have the square egr cooler lots of failure with those
I looked this morning and it looks like the square egr cooler, once I can find the TSB and get with my warrenty company so I won't get stuck with the whole bill
I think I found the TSB 09-8-3, the road test is step 5, of course I can work right now Monday through Thursday, then get with the warrenty company to show them what I have found and how much I will have to pay and comfirm warrenty.

When I check EOT/ECT delta per the 09-8-3 TSB I get a wider spread than when I check it at cruise.... which is good if you are after warranty work, as the numbers will look terrible to the dealer, checking it THEIR way.

hopoe its a Ford ESP plan
I had a warrenty only to get burned when I needed it it wasnt a ford warrenty though LOTS of people have been burned by a non ford warrenty
thats when I wanted to figure this thing out alittle better and found FTE
I wont ever buy another AM warrenty again
but a ford warrenty was great they just fix your issues no big deal the way it should be
Well I have my warrenty from CarMax, since I bought the truck used from them, if there warrenty takes it, then I can get my local Ford dealer where I know the person in charge of service
