Reversing into a pub parking space last night, a sawn off tree branch shattered my rear windscreen. Assuming I can get a new one shipped to England does anyone have any experience of replacing one?
Thanks

Just for a bit of clarification since this is in the Expedition and Navigator section the back end looks like this right:
With the rear glass that has two struts that assist in lifting and keeping it open? Not a fixed window? (this is a 2009 pictured, but the idea is the same).
Shorebird, That has nothing to do with the replacement of the rear glass in an Expedition. The rear glass is an opening panel, it is attached by two fasteners at the hinge on top. If I recall correctly it is two 1/2" plastic button type screws. I'm sure there is a specific tool for it, but there are two small holes in the surface which is what you use to drive them in and out. The latch mechanisim also screws off. The defroster wire just unclips.
Ah, I forgot about the shocks! Duh. If you are ordering from the US, I bet the dealer could set you up with the proper instructions from the manual. I would guess the window would come preassembled with the ball for the shocks to attach to. The way to take the socket part off is to pull the small plastic cap at the end of the hub, which will release the ball.
