Old Style GP Controller

We just purchased a 85 IDI engine. It has the old style GP controller. Could someone tell me which wires go where off the top of the controller. I know the purple 1 goes to the small terminal of the relay. There is 1 thick orange wire that is the hot wire off the relay. There is 1 ground wire. The 2 red wires I have no idea. The PO hack up the harness, so there is no plug for the harness at the fender. I am just tryin to wire this thing correctly. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If he hacked it all the bits I would recommend putting a manual push button controller in the dash, its the best way to just avoid a hassle of electrical issues. I have a setup on a push button with a relay that you hold for ten seconds and it clicks while holding it then you crank it over.

Yes I did read the sticky at the top of the page, dosen't give me all the wiring off the top of the controller tho. Am just trying to make sure everything goes where it is suppose to. Guess I will have to strip off all the wire looming to see where each wire goes. The harness is complete on top of the motor, just the connecting plug at the fender got cut off. Just tryin to make sure the FSS and Fast idle control are hooked up right.

Something to be careful of, I've heard that the old style like to fail in the ON position..... toasting your glow plugs.

I'd consider switching to the 7.3L style, or a manual switch setup...

Well I got most of this truck back together today, with the old style controller. I went to start it, and the ole girl fired up on the 2nd try. Smoke a lil white,( assuming it is cold), idle a lil rough at 1st, but then smoothed out after a couple minutes. Still got some small stuff to do, but another IDI lives on to do some work, and make some money. Thanx for the help guys!!
