I have a 86 F150 with a c6 trans. I replaced the tourque convertor and the flywheel(broken studs&broken teeth). While removing the trans. I bent the modulator valve. I purchased a new vavle but discarded the pushrod with the old valve. I had no idea that a new rod did not come with the the new mod. valve. My local Ford place ordered the rod but then called back a few hours later to say that Ford no longer makes that part(obsolete). I have went to junkyards and trans. repair places but no luck. One trans. shop told me to use a 16d nail. Just file it down till it shifts right. What it does is goes in reverse perfect but when put in 1-3 gear it will hardly pull off. But if you get a running start it will get up to 55-60 MPH. It is like it will not shift down to 1st gear(stuck in 3rd). Everyone keeps telling me to give up and buy a chevy because they are easy to work on.
Well everyone knows what I said on that one . If you know what I mean. Anyone have any info, help, exact mesurements of the modulator valve rod, ANYTHING. I would love to drive my truck again.
Thanks, Daniel
There are a number of places which sell rebuilt trannys, and I have to think that they could come up with a part for a C-6. I don't know where you're posting from, but if there's an Auto Trader magazine in your vicinity it probably runs lots of ads for local tranny rebuild businesses.
I don't understand why you had no luck at a junkyard- don't they allow you to wander around out there? Try http://www.bulkpart.com/kitInfo.htm?source=overture They have a lot of good parts at good prices. Also, if you e-mail me, I can put you in touch with someone who has that part.
But for now, don't drive the truck with the transmission like that, unless you want to pull the tranny again. That is the only way I know of to kill these trannys.
