TJ I've never had any luck getting anything to stick to the new pan gasket except silicone. Hitack doesnt seem to, weatherstrip glue doesnt, etc etc.
A thin bead of silicone seems to hold it ok.
yo,
Our 96 Bronco's pan started to rust @62k miles. We kept an eye on it and caught the rust before it did any damage. It's been 'blasted, primed and painted. Our local body shop/mechanic did it for $40.00. Not bad considering the problems it could have caused, huh? Wish i could get my body repaired for that price!
I had a pin hole in my pan, used some silicone and sealed it. Worked great for a year until my truck was smashed into by a red light runner. You really want to paint that oil pan, they rust really easily.
Yeah, I believe after church and the family Easter lunch, I'll just have to get under there and have my self a good look at the oil pans on the 2 trucks. I did notice that the folks posting did not have a 460. But anyway, I'd rather be safe than sorry.
