10 days until 10 years.

I have been watching

Rising: Rebuilding Ground Zero for a couple of weeks now.

My original reason to watch the show was to see the construction process.

I have been a union carpenter for since 1986 and always loved construction

as a teen ager.

The stories with in the building process is very compelling and the

efforts of all that are involved with the rebuilding is incredible.

The perfect Hawaiian term to use for this process is "MANA", which means

POWER, A POWERFUL NATION, SUPER NATURAL POWER.

I hope that there is HOPE for all those lost someone that day.

On another note,

It would be great if 9-11 can become a National holiday, maybe even

replacing Columbus Day.

We do not "celebrate" Columbus Day in Hawaiʻi. We call the day

Discovererʻs Day, to recognize Captain Cook.

I hope others feel this way too, 9-11 was a life changing day.... for

the world.

9/11 is especially important to me, so excuse my rant.

I do not think that 9/11 will become a holiday. 9/11 is my generations Pearl Harbor, and December 7th is not a holiday. I dont want 9/11 to become a holiday only because that would imply that Pearl Harbor was less significant, and both were tragic attacks on our country.

Here is my request for everyone. Don't spend September 11th being angry at anyone for the terrible acts they committed. Instead remember the 1000's of innocent people killed, who were trapped alive in what we can only assume was a living hell. And the 343 Fire/EMS and 60 Police Officers who lost their lives because they raced into a war zone to save as many lives as they could. And the other 100's of responders who have since died, been hospitalized, or acquired a disease from the contamination at ground zero. All in all 1000's of people died for one reason. Hate. Lets not perpetuate that hate on this day, but instead remember their lives positively, and look back to how the United States was on September 11th, 2001. I dont think a body of people has ever been more united as one than our country was on that day.

It ain't over. I lost my Mom one week after it to the day.

I was in Uniform at the time, and cannot escape the nasty feeling that worry for me and what it meant for the whole world was the deciding influence in her final STROKE...

Many of us are scarred mentally - if not by the news that came that day - but by the aftermath, like dominoes falling one after another. Like me...

Dear Lord - I know there was nothing I could do or change
But it just doesn't feel that way inside.
This burden of guilt and frustration IS NOT MINE!
~It never was. Please help me to let it go
AMEN

I watched the special on Discovery last night. I believe it was the one you were referring to but man the memorial in New York is amazing! Definitely something I want to go see.

Here is a video of what the memorial will look like when finished.
