I didnt like any of the kits but they do look nice
they all reduce the return line WAY DOWN
I keept my coolant filter lines all the same size 1inch or whatever and just dumped it back in the heater return line instead of the small radiator deairation line
then I drill the filter out to 3/8
I wanted to filter as much as possible since its only a Bypass filter
I also use Final Charge from oreilys so far so good plus its not to expensive just under 100.00 bucks for 4 gallons full strength plus its silicate free
theres also a few other guys on here running it too
Plus its got all the ratings CAT EC-1 SILICATE FREE
I bought the kit from diesel site.
As for the coolant. I buy CAT ELC for $21/gallon at a local big rig lube place. My first fill (pure concentrate) I got from a volvo big rig place. It was Prestone ELC that was cat EC-1 concentrate. I got 6 gallons for ~$110
I liked the Sinister kit myself. Nice heavy gauge bracket and the fittings are swedged on the blue high-silicone hoses. Filter base is a blue billet piece. Have some pics in my album: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/m...0&ref=gnr-next
Yup, put it behind the heater control valve the first time. It looked like it went there when I laid everything out. It had flow only when the valve was open (heater on) Duuh.. Moved it a few weeks later. I don't think the valves are stainless.
Bypass filters are meant to use the smaller hose as the filter head has only .035-.090 orfice. They filter a small amount at a time, that is why they are called "bypass filter". If you were going to filter the whole system you would require a very large filter, about the size of a household water filter (not the little undersink kind). Whatever you use make sure the filter is not "charged". Also not all filters are created equal.

Yeah I have used coolant filters for HD applications before, I know better than to use the charged ones. I always had good luck with Baldwins, and I used to have a great hook up on them if you bought them in any quantity.
I will have to do some research to determine what the good ones are now.
Something I noticed in addition to what Blade35 is saying about flow (good job btw Blade!) these kits filter the top of the coolant. I would like to see a filter at the bottom of the system where the trash doesn't have to be lifted up to the filter.
Here are some coolant filter #'s. Last time I changed mine I had to order one and wait for it to come in. I've been doing copy and paste so I'm not sure who to thank for the #'s.
