I may be back to thinking about manual transmissions if my many upgrades don't net a decent increase in mileage. But, from everything I've read 15 MPG is within reach, and at that point I'll be happy with my C6 since I'll be able to pull or haul anything I need to, but still turn in acceptable mileage without breaking the bank.
Words from a man who owned an AOD, switched to a C6, and is now compiling the bits to install a manual. So, Ken, where do you stand on that quest?
Getting closer, Gary! I'm looking forward to this project.
I've torn all the parts needed out of the donor truck - I'm slowly working my way through them cleaning, replacing bushes, bearings etc, repainting & stacking aside ready to go.
Unfortunately I've got limited time each day to do very much.

Ken - Given your experience w/both the AOD awa C6, I'm sure we'll all be anxious to hear how this project turns out. I doubt many others will have the back-to-back-to-back experience you will have of three different transmissions in one truck. Please keep us posted as that'll helP me understand what tranny I want in my DD.
I go M5OD but you need to get rid of those tires with the gears and OD. Those are costing you 1-2 mpg.
Yea I do. The code says it had 2.47's and 215R75 tires originally but 3.08's and something like 235 or 245R70's with street tread, not AT's like it has now, is closer to what I'll wind up with. Don't have a tech but figure I'm doing 2200-2300 at highway speeds.
