Throttle Issue

After 13 months and 19K miles, I have finally experienced an issue similiar to what others have posted. Since I picked my truck up in June of '11, I have had several incidents of pulling out while turning and having the acceleration die for a second, but it normally catches up quickly. The other day I pulled out turning right and my right rear wheel spun a little. The engine immediately lost all power and the truck just coasted. I applied more acceleration and nothing. The engine was still running, but not responding...I floored it and there was no response. I finally took my foot completely off the gas pedal, waited a second, then reapplied it and everything was fine. Luckily, I was not pulling out in front of anyone. I have all current flashes and was not pulling anything. The tire spin was very minute compared to some past take off spins. Anyone have any ideas?

This description sounds like the traction control kicked in. I can duplicate this type of behavior with the traction control on. If I turn the traction control off, I can spin a tire and take off like a jack rabbit.

I was wondering about that..I turned it off for the rest of the day and had no issue. The problem is that I have never cut the traction control off before and have experienced mild to moderate tire spin (sometimes accidentally, sometimes not) and although it would eventually "bog" down, it never shut off like this before. It immediately went to idle RPM and did nothing until I reset the gas pedal....I'll keep an eye on it. Thanks for the reply.

You may have engaged the stability control with the snap turn. It behaves like the TC.

I had this issue on my 7.3L. When the pedal went dead I would have a CEL on. It ended up being the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) on the pedal. Since this sensor was molding into the pedal, I had to replace the pedal assesmbly. When it goes bad, the truck doesn't know how much throttle you are applying and defaults to idle. By releasing pedal, or tapping it agin, the sensor picks back up and on I'd go. Not sure how the TPS is situated on my 6.7L.
