howdy, i need so advice hopefully from someone who's had experience... anyone with a bronco will tell u that the gas mileage sucks on them.
well, ive seen a jacob electronics mileage master ignition system and i was wondering if anyone has installed one of these before or has info to tell me?
I don't have one but I was looking into one for emmissions reasons. It supposedly cleans up emmissions and I didn't want any hassle with my 91 EB Bronco. After looking around the internet one thing became very clear about the Jacobs system, it's not very reliable and the warranty sucks. I didn't buy one.
I put a Jacobs ignition on my '84 Bronco. It' not bad - I did notice a bit more power and a smoother idle. It also made a mid-throttle flat spot go away. I may have seen a tiny improvement in gas milage over the Duraspark ignition.
What I don't like about it is that you need to keep the Duraspark box to trigger the Jacobs - at least on the model I have. This just creates more points of failure - not good on a 4X4. I carry a complete spare duraspark module and coil in case something breaks and I'm way out in the woods or on the beach.
I installed an MSD box on my '68 Mustang and use a Duraspark distributer to trigger it. I like that setup much better than the Jacobs and it was a lot cheaper too.
