my truk is a 1992 7.3 auto i know that i need head gaskets but will that give more power to me and my rear main seal is out but dirt and oil formd a gasket for that hahaha but im going to cut out the catilitic converter and just run straight staks. what do i need to do
I don't know if new head gaskets will add more power but they will sure save your engine if your old ones are blown! You don't have a cat so don't worry about cutting it off. You can cut the restrictive factory exhaust off at the Y pipe and open your exhaust up to at least a 3 1/2" or larger straight thru exhaust or stacks like you were talking about and that will help your engine breath better. You can also improve your cold air intake, do a search on here for options for that. These things will help some but you won't notice a HUGE difference with them. If your injector pump and injectors have close to 100K miles or more on them, they are probably due to be replaced. That's gonna cost you probably 700-800 bucks but you will definitely be able to tell the difference in how your truck performs. You can also turn the fuel up on your injector pump but be VERY, VERY careful in doing that especially if you don't have a pyrometer. If your exhaust temps get to high, very bad things will happen. Finally as Snapon said, a turbo will definitely add some power but that's gonna cost you even more than a new injector pump and injectors. You're not gonna be able to make your IDI perform on the same level as a Cummins or Duramax without some SERIOUS and EXPENSIVE modifications and probably not even then so don't be thinking you can or you'll be disappointed. What you can do is have a truck/engine that will perform most any task you ask of it, run pretty much forever if you take care of it, and be really simple and fairly cheap to work on!
are you sure that i dont have a cat converter on my truk cuz i think it does what about the injectors or the rubber o rings around the top of the injectors where the fuel lines run through

I have a '93 and it had the original exhaust on it until about a week ago and it didn't have a cat but of course it's never been in the People's Repbulic of Kalifornia either! LOL
