I need to tow my truck and was wanting to know if a 2005 f-250 with the 5.4 would tow my truck on a car hauler.I have a 2007 dodge ram 4x4 quad cab.The weight is approximately 5400lbs for the truck and 2300lbs for the trailer. Thanks
i have an 02 f-250 with a 5.4 and have pulled a dodge grand caravan and a heavy duty pipe top goose neck trailer. the truck pulled it just fine just put the f-250 in tow mode or O/D off and go. Trailer breaks help alot when stopping but my controller was out when i pulld the mini van and i took it easy but you should be fine.
Sure it would. If I was pulling a dodge with my SD I'd atleast pull it through a couple dodge dealers on the way though. haha. An F150 could easily do it also.
I'm a ford guy and bought the dodge on a budget.I feel good getting towed by a ford.So much for those hemi motors.Blown at 74,000km.JUNK!!
A couple of my buddies are Cummins boys and always bustin my chops for having a Ford and a gasser. I can't wait till I have to pull one of their rigs some day. haha. Hope it all works out and I dont mean to joke at your misfortune. Good luck to ya.
New F250 have towing ratings at 12,500 lb, so even the older model might have it slightly lower - the 7700 lb is still below the expectation.
Talk about lack of confidence in Ford
The truck will tow that no problem. At 7700 lbs, you aren't even close to the max tow rating.
Technically, you are supposed to use a weight distribution hitch for anything over 5000 lbs, but I don't think I have ever seen anyone use a WDH on anything but a camper trailer.
