small filter
I have a 2004 6.0 and I replaced the fuel pump with an airdog, no problem with the spin on filter, however, looking for just the small filter is proving to be extremely difficult. I have called a number of the filter companies directly and they all tell me the same thing, "It is sold as a kit". Does anyone have any suggestions. Someone has to make this filter and it seems like most manufacturers are re-boxing the filters, racor was no help as most of the blogs state that racor makes the motorcraft. I hate to buy a $50.00 filter and throw away the large filter. The airdog spin-on is a 2 micron so in theory you could do away with the small filter but I like two levels of defense in the fuel system.

I've only seen the fuel filters for sale as a kit. I would suggest checking with Racor (which it seems you have already done), International, and Diesel Filters Online. If you strike out on all three my bet is that you can't buy just the small filter.

You can't buy just the small filter......believe me I've tried. I've been running without the small filter for about 4 years now with no problems. If you remove the small filter you have to remove the stand pipe that it fits on also. The AD does a very good job at filtering IMHO. If you just have to have the small filter then you'll have to buy the kit but it should be good for a VERY long time.
