Im really unsure where its coming from or whats causing it. Here is the deal. I am hearing this sometimes, not all the time. It all started after I installed my turbo. I also changed the oil at that time. Actually im not 100% sure if it started then or not, only because of the big honking air breather which possibly was masking the sound. I can hear it not because of the air intake which is only a small filter with holes drilled in the end and pvc pipe. I took a short video when I got to work this morning. Sorry no picture just sound, was way to dark at 530am on a dang Sunday!
Louder on one side compared to the other? Is your down pipe sealed tight? Sounds almost like a big exhaust leak too me ? When you give it throttle does it smooth out?
On a cold start are you able to reach your arm around back there and see if you feel any air moving? Anywhere around the exhaust really. One side louder then other?
Ill do that in the morning. Im not really sure on the what side is louder part ill also check that out tomorrow. Hopefully its that or just injector knock.
I still gotta turn the fuel up. Along with advancing it a tad, its getting that gasser truck sound...
I can't hear the ticking in the video so I can't help with that but as far as the gasser sound, what diameter exhaust are you running. The bigger the diameter, say 4" straight out, the less of a gasser sound you'll have. With a turbo and a 4 or 5 inch straight thru exhaust you'll have a low growl instead of a thumping or popping like a gasser.
its a very light distinct ticking in the background.
this should help others pick it out.
i dunno what that is though sorry.how many miles are on the turbo you put on?
agreed on the retarded timing though.she hardly sounds diesel.
