Speed Limiter???
#16
Eh no, I would imagine the speedlimiter is there ''as its already been stated'' to keep stupid idiots from shredding their tires going 130mph down some backroad and rolling their truck 20 times, and then having their whiney family sue Ford and/or the manufacture of the tire on the truck for making a faulty product.
Because THAT is the kind of world we live in.

OK, what do you think drives litigation?
Who is likely to sue? Why?
Do you think that every lawsuit is the result of a single vehicle accident which injures or kills only the driver or his family?
Do you think every lawsuit is brought by the driver or his survivors?
If you manage to disable your speed limiter and crash into my family, do you think I shouldn't sue you? If someone killed your wife or child, would you just say "Accidents happen"???
Ford and every other maker knows, as we all should, that pickups shouldn't be driven at excessive speeds. They know the limits of the tires on them. They know that it is easy to limit the speed of those vehicles. And they know that some folks are as dumb as a bag of hammers and will run the vehicle up past redline on the first long straight they hit. So knowing all this, what choice to they have but to limit the speeds? If they don't, they are negligent and liable for damages.
You don't like our system, go live in some s---hole where you have no legal remedies when someone injures you or damages your property. Go someplace where the answer is to go kill the guy, or have him kill you. You don't have to go far. But you can drive as fast as you like in places like that. Have at it.

We do hear about astounding verdicts and awards from time to time. They are rare. The quick buck and senseless lawsuit usually yields nothing. Many times they settle for something not so astounding, as that can be cheaper than going to trial. An imperfect system, but it beats most if not all others.
