Are you just looking for a way to start the truck without going through the normal operation? If so, you can wire a switch across the starter solendiod on the fender. That will bypass the key switch.

I want to eliminate the factory stuff..I bought a mallory distributor..electrical box..coil..
I think the heads have carbon built up it pings when I open the throttle....timing appears OK..only does it when the engine is up to temp...
plus low oil pressure..5-10 # at warm idle..not good

thanks

Well I wouldn't worry about the ignition components until you resolve the pingin and oil pressure issue. Id make sure your timing is good. For the oil pressure. Test your sensor to make sure its accurate first. Throw some seafoam in the engine and make sure its full of oil. The oil pump itself may be going out. If so you'll have to drop the pan and swap it out. Then you could also check for sludge in pan or on pickup.

I run 15-40 diesel oil in my 78 400 with good luck. Better oil pressure and good cleaning qualities for an older engine. I also do the same in my 64 Tbird.
