I have been roaming around here for a while and I truly love this site.I have run into something on my truck and now I have a question.I have a 95 150 with a 300 and a 5 speed.I have noticed my mileage getting worse and have been doing little things to try to bring it up.I have cleaned the throttle body, changed plugs, wires, air and fuel filters, checked vacuum hoses and the like.My last tank ,I checked and got 14 mpg with the easiest driving I can do. A friend came over while I was looking at it and was asking if it was throwing up codes.I said no,so we started to try to make it throw up codes unhooking plug wires and sensors. With all that the check engine light never came on.I thought I had better go to the pros for an answer, but would no codes mean a bad computer?
Thanks,
Eddie
It can but it would be running a lot worse than you are describing.
Does the MIL come on when you first start the engine and then go off?
If so your computer should be good to that point.
You need to ground the STI wire and see if you have any stored codes in the computer.

Unplugging plug wires is not the way to get a code to show up.
This vintage computer will need a complete drive cycle(start, drive, stop, turn the ignition off) or two to set the check engine light for some faults, though it may still store a code.. you'll have to plug in a code reader and see.
