Shock + Lift Question
secondly, I am looking to purchase new shocks, I'm looking at getting the Rancho RS9000XL series, my concern is buying the correct length, hence the lift question.
As the truck sits the front shock measures 23", i measured from the center bottom bolt to right under the top bracket that the top of the shock slides into. The rear measured 25 1/4", measured from center bolt to center bolt.
Installed on the truck right now are a set of Superlift Suspension Systems shocks, Front+Rear, the rear is leaking, this is why I want to replace them.

Can anyone help me to find out either what size lift I might have or if I'm measuring the shocks properly so I can order the right size??
I just found that Rancho has a $100 mail in rebate that ends at the end of this month and I wanted to try and purchase them before then.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
I guess that's where I was confussed, my lift is springs in the front and blocks in the rear, I was going off of the blocks in the rear, there are 2 blocks per side, a 2" block with a 4" block on top of it, obviously that measures 6" inches but is it only a 4" lift because the 2" block is the stock??? rdunagan - I assume this is the same thing you were talking about, if that's the case, then I think I bought the wrong length shock.....Doh! I was affraid of that.
mountie - I too looked for any markings, none that I could see, even on the POS shocks that are on there now there was nothing to go by.
Oh well, it looks like they'll be delivered tomorrow, I'll let you guys know the outcome, hopefully they won't have an issue with trading

Here's a pic of my rear suspension, does anybody know if it's considered a 4" lift or a 6" inch, by the picture I'd say a 6" lift, but if the 2" block is what's standard on these trucks then I'd say I have a 4" lift.

when I got to the length and travel of the shock I was flustered too
I was thinking of just measure the total length of the shock on the truck and see what came up
If fI find anything useful out I will post back good luck
2" spacer on the front, and an F350 block in the rear.
My F350 block is that size you are showing.

Most times a 6" lift is 6" in front an 4" in rear. That way ur truck sits level. Since ur truck has 4" blocks in the rear, I would say u do have a 6" lift kit.
My 05 has 6" lift in front an 5 1/2" blocks in the rear. That way when i pull something my truck doesnt sag in the tailed.
I hate the look of a truck that sags in the tailend. It looks like an dog who just got his a$$ beat in a fight.
just my opinion !!!
Interesting to see what a 2" spacer on the front of a F250 and F350 blocks on the rear end up looking like.

I also measureed the shocks at centerline of mount bolts
front was 23 inch
rear was 29.5 inch
so I think we got the same blocks but are leaf springs have a taller arch
plus you guys have to figure at some point on these Ford put a diffrent suspension on the front end
my 03 dont have the coil spring is one diff
some have the coil spring and diffrent frontt end suspension componets and I want to say 05+diff but not shure on that one
but theres definatly 2 diffrent suspensions that come into play one truck may be diff from the next truck
theres more to it than just the blocks
After seeing the pictures of my old shocks you can see why I wanted to change them. Here's some pictures of the Rancho RS9000XL's after I installed them.

So far I'm pretty happy with them, just trying to dial them in for the perfect ride
