Oil Change???

Ok just bought my 05 Expedition with 86000 miles. Anyone have any reccomendation on what type oil is should use? Ford Synthetic or Synthtic Blend? I believe the manual says blend, I think the truck was carried for reg. oil changes at dealer. Was thinking of doing it myself.

Thanks

Ford recommends using 7.0 quarts of 5W-20 Premium Synthetic Blend Motor Oil.

But they also have the following footnote: Use of synthetic or synthetic blend motor oil is not mandatory. Engine oil need only meet the requirements of Ford specification WSS-M2C930-A and the API Certification mark.

I only get 5.5 quarts in mine, that's all Ive ever gotten in it. I always change the oil scalding hot as well, so it is draining down.

Up through 04 an oil and filter change took 6 quarts. Your 05 is supposed to take 7 quarts when changing both the oil and filter. To be safe, put in 6 quarts, run the engine to fill the filter. Then shut it off, wait a few minutes, then check the oil level and fill it as needed.

What about the info center, I don't think anything will need to be reset there.

Ok weird thing checked oil at 6qts. oil level is right at the top of the XXXX just below the top hole on the oil stick. Is this normal? My owners manual also said 7qts, should I add another quart???

Wonder why Ford would have put 7qts in owner guide if it was full at 6 qts.

Thanks everyone for your help.
