What exactly is an LED flasher? Where did you get it?

this thread is for anyone who has added any strobe kits for their SD's.

I have a very simple installation on my 2011, just an ecco kit I have on four corners. Upfitter switch #1 powers the switch.
Hi Beezil! Thanks for getting this thread started. Sorry for taking ao long to reply. Decided it was time to get ready for the Hurricane I went out to the Ecco site and found several kits. In my state I will need to use yellow flashers. Did you use the 9460 kit? The unit looks to be waterproof and can be mounted under the truck. Did you go with the 15 or 25 foot wires? I would like to keep everything below the chassis and will need to snake the wires. Not sure if a 15 foot wire will reach everything. Also, where did you find the best price on them?

It looks like they are a 30W setup. Did you run them directly off of upfitter 1
without another relay in the circuit? Feels funny doing this in the summer without the first snow storm in the forecast!

how did you make it with Irene?

Everything stay high and (relatively) dry?

I answered a bit on that other thread....

Yep, no problems with upfitter #1. No extra relay.

I can't remember my cable length...I can't even remember if i ran into any problems with having to splice extra footage or not. If I can't remember the answer to that, it probably means i didn't, but i sure can't tell you if my cables were 15 or 25.

the power supply can absolutly be mounted under the truck if you'd like.

I got my kit from CPW, which is a huge place with internet presence, but it happens to be local for me.

Thanks for the information and the link. Irene did some damage in our area but mainly from what is suspected to be offshoot tornados as it passed by. I spent a good portion of one day before the storm driving a few hundred miles looking for a generator. Of course it is like snowplowing... wait until there is a forecast for 2 feet before you check to see if the plow works Never did find one, but did have a fun day driving my truck around.

My major effort was to finally bolt down a shed I built a few years ago. I never took the time to lag it down to the cement foundation and decided that the possibility of 100 mph winds coming was enough of a motivation to finish it off. Even though we never got to the 100 mph winds, there were a number of toppled sheds and trees -- but my shed stayed in place.

Thanks for the detail. I saw from one of your pictures that you did use the 9460 kit. Since it is waterproof, I will mount it under the truck. 15 feet should be enough if I mount it in a central location. If i read the specs right on these bulbs, they draw 30W and I can get away using Aux 4.

I will keep you updated!

You also have to drill out the double layer of plastics. I cut the black area larger to fit the bulb threw but kept the black plastic circle to place back once finished. I cut the reflected area smaller, just enough to fit the bulb in and have the rubber area tight. I used clear silicone to seal it up nicely and no leakage.
