I honestly don't understand the complexity. They have a mile to get to a top speed. A 700 hp 7.3 2wd obs could easily make it past that speed. Get an overdrive ratio at. 50 and at 3400 would be over 200 mph. Lower it and block the grill. A 3.31 gear ratio shouldn't lose that much power. The numbers make it seem easy. There must be something with drag or something.

Yeah, what about a new fuel system, new injectors, different turbo, and changing the compression ratio makes it "lightly modified"!? By that standard, there isn't really anyone on this board who has done anything more than light modifications.

Don't get me wrong, I understand that many of the vehicles that run on Bonneville are specifically built for that purpose, but those mods don't make the truck "Mostly stock" by most peoples estimation.

Also, on a side note, I think it is interesting that the truck ran better on B20 than on D2 or B100. That just reinforces my personal experience with B20 all the more. My truck likes it!

I am guessing from their statement about the drivetrain being stock that it did this without altering the rear end ratio or OD gearing. And yes, that is a BIG front end to be pushing through the wind at that speed. Looks kinda comical the way they have it set up in the pics.

They had to modify the gears. The 6r140 has a .65 final OD. With factory 3.31 gears and even with 35s which those look smaller they cannot run over 176 at 3400 redline. Im curious as to what they turned the motor. If they we're at say 4500 I could see it with a stock driveline.
I also don't understand raising the compression

I would imagine that a truck like this would have the same problems that Top Gear had on the salt flats. Spinning tires more than accelerating for the first 1/4 mile or so. I know my truck will start spinning tires on pavement sometimes at around 45mph, so I'd imagine a 700hp version would have a tough time getting traction for a little bit on the salt flats.
