Was doing some stuff on the 78 tonight, and spent the last hour or so hooking up the windshield washer. Got the washer tank off the parts truck i got, and it works. Had to take the motor out to clean inside and put the little plastic propellar thing back on. Its a pet peev of mine to have EVERYTHING work on my truck, down to little things like that. Does everything work on all your trucks? and are most people like me and spend the extra time to make everything work?? On vacation next week, and plan to spend as much time as i can working on her.
My truck has needed a new washer fluid pump for the entire time I've owned it; still haven't gotten around to fixing that.
I actually pulled the fuse for the seat belt chime in mine because I got tired of it blaring at me anytime I need to move it in the driveway (don't need the seat belt to do that).
not everything works in my truck. i need to replace the windshield squirters.
along with the windshield fluid box. it is all missing on my truck.
previous owner must have tossed it out since he only seem to
use it for mudding. also the dome light needs to be fixed along with tons
of other little things.
Everything that's in my 74 works. I don't have windshield washers because of my steering conversion. The tank lines, and squirters are stored away, But other than that.
My dealer installed AC is shot, so I'm in the process of eliminating it. Heater core leaks, so I've been trying to remove the AC condenser to get to the heater core box out... Fuel tank selector switch for changing the gauge to read the front or rear tank is shot, but the senders & gauge work fine. Drivers side windows regulator needs a new bushing and some lube. Door pins for the interior cabin lights are broken, but are also easily replaced. I've already fixed all the other obnoxious little things. I even got the stock AM radio working again Engine leaks oil and exhaust, but both issues will be addressed shortly.
Other than that, everything works great! Getting closer every weekend...
I think it would be easier for me to start with the things that I know aren't working on my truck. The heater/ac fan is not working at all, but I haven't exactly had a chance to get a look at those yet. The turn signals sort of work, only the left side. At first it had no tail lights or brake lights but a bulb change and fuses solved that. Now it at least has all the running lights, but only one brake light and one turn signal on the same side. Also it had no power steering and an aftermarket tiny steering wheel, and that was fun to drive home I just about wrecked it because of that.
Its getting a little better every day, and soon I'll be able to start on the body work and hopefully be able to take it to the car show this October.
Yeah, mine, the blinker only works left, i have to hold it up for the right. My tach grounds out when i turn on the headlights. Something is grounding, will check that this weekend. Little by little, she will work like it was brand new. {almost}
Most of my dash doesn't work and there are other things that don't work or need repair, like the windshield, blower motor, etc. Since joining this forum, I have been a lot more motivated to work on it, but working 60-70hrs a week is getting in the way :/
