does the marine corp think that you cannot have a vehicle? I still have mine, as do my other military (including marine) buddies, and I was in training for almost a year. I vote that if you can't get a friend/family member to watch it, just put it in storage till you head to your first duty station, it'll survive that long.

Its a nice truck and if the market there is like it is here unfortunately you wont be able to get a good price w/o taking a beating if you can even get it sold I vote keep it. Heck you wont be spending much money rent a storage unit or a garage. That'd be what id do

I have to agree with everyone else. I would find some way to keep it. You will regret selling the truck and if you keep it then you don't have to worry about a car payment when you get to your first duty station. Welcome to the service.

Sold my car when I went into the army. Kicked myself in the but when I got to my duty station. I ended up buying another car there. Stupid on my part. Read up on storage of vehicles prep it and moth ball her preferably inside. She will be fine when you get out of training.

DO NOT SELL!!! Let me repeat myself,,, DO NOT SELL your truck!!! Store it until you get out of Boot and SOI and MOS training,,,, usually after Boot you can drive it to your next duty station,, not sure about now-a-days,, BUT regardless,,, do not sell it, it will sit just fine until you are done with your training and assigned a permanent duty station!!! You will kick yourself later if you do!! I left mine at home until I got stationed at Lejeune, flew home drove it back,,,
Semper Fi early and don't sell it!!

Thanks guys! Didn't know they gave you time to drive it where ever you get stationed. Il look into getting it stored. I definitely don't want it sitting out side for that long. Especially in the washington rain! How much do storage units usually cost?

Keep it!!

Find someone to watch it, or store it. Its true....you can take leave after basic training, or after some other training and fly home and drive it to your next duty station. Guys did it all the time when i was in the service. Pretty sure you will be driving it cross country seems how your here in WA and most Marine Corps training is on the East coast. I think......

Long term storage should be fairly decent,, especially when compared to trying to replace it!! And yes they give you leave most times between duty stations,,, heck find someone who wants to make a few extra bucks for letting it sit in their garage for 3 mos. during boot,,, and DITTO to frdepew... if I could I would also,,, I do have room to park it,,, just wouldn't be covered,,, but none of my fleet are covered either!
