Yep sounds like the same truck. This one had the ol TH350 auto, the truck would hit 90 no problem but anything over took a little while. For a 70 still on the original engine, it ran very strong. I was driving through town in her once and pulled up to a stop light next to a late 80s Camaro Iroc. The driver challenged me to a drag up to the next light. I dropped er down in first and booted it hard when the light turned green. Both tires just went up in smoke, the driver of the Camaro had choked a little getting off the line (5speed) so it helped a little not that I needed it. It was a very close race, I honestly don't know who won. With those 4.10 gears that old truck really jumps when you stomp on it! Those old nylon tires smoke really nice!
Well I’ve seen great things from both trucks. My father in law had a ford ranger he bought new back in 1986 and put it through hell and back. He finally go rid of it in 1997 with 200,000 + miles on the original engine & transmission. I my self bought a Chevy S-10 back in 1997 and the truck ran great. I traded her in last year with 130,000 miles on her and the only thing aside from regular maintenance that I replaced was the clutch. Not because it was out but because my extended warranty was going to expire and wanted to have it replaced because I had planned on keeping her for a bit longer (and it only cost me the deductible $50.) But as luck would have it I traded her in for my new truck. Both solid trucks in my opinion.

Rnager is by far the better truck. I am on my second, my first being a 90 4 banger. I a month ago I drove my future brother in laws 99 S-10 4 cyl. from Omaha to Sproingfield MO, about 6 hours. It sucked driving that piece especially through KC. The 90 I had would eat this thing alive. It also felt like I was sitting on the floor. The only thing I liked about it was it rode a hella lot smoother than either ranger I've owned. The 90 I had would go over 100, not sure exactly because the speedometer isn't labeled past 85 but the needle doesn't stop climbing. I would guess somewhere between 105-110. The 93 I have now with the 4.0 4x4 will bring the needle almost back to 0.
If I ever blow my engine I think I'll have to try to put a SOHC 4.0 in. Anyone know if that's possible?
