2000 Ranger ?'s

The bulb that illuminates my gas gauge in the instrument panel gave out on me(has gotten dimmer and dimmer). I'm almost positive it's the bulb but I just wanted to know how easy removing the instrument panel to get to the bulb is?

Also I need to replace the power steering pump and wondering how difficult that is?

And wondering if anyone has issues with the a/c when under high rpm's seems to blow in rather than out like it's charging then after a little while starts to blow out cold air and some time cycles this routine?

Thanks for the help...

The bulbs are not too hard to change, but it takes patience because you have to remove the entire dash assembly around the steering wheel to get to the instruments.

The A/C problem almost sounds like a vacuum leak somewhere. What do you guys think?

Whenever somebody has a problem with their A/C, the first thing I always ask is, when was the last time you re-charged the system with refrigerant? For me, this is the first thing to do, if it has not already been done. The problem may very well lie elsewhere, but you have to make sure the system has everything it needs to run properly before you start thinking about faulty parts. Just my .02.

BTW, welcome to Ford Truck Enthusiasts!!!

The power steering pump shouldn't be to hard to do, just make sure you bleed the system good.

An A/C vacuum problem normally shows up under load when the vacuum is at it's lowest.

Mark, I ran across this link regarding Ranger Dash Bulb Replacement last night when I was surfing the net. The Ranger in the pictures is a 2002 but the procedure probably relates to all 98' and up models.

Be sure to click the images of the dash. They are links to close-up photos that are nice and clear.
