what tranny

can someone help us out. my buddy has a 69 f1oo that has a swaped 302 and a 3spd. on the colum he is wanting to put a auto in it what would be a good auto and how difficult would it be.he has another 69/w a c6 and heard it wouldnt work due to the 302 being a small block. any help or suggestions would be greatly appreaciated. email is ingersollrams(No Email Addresses In Posts!)

77 I would suggest the C4 or AOD tranny to go behind a 302.

The C4 has a removable bell housing so if he can get one cheap he'll just need to find the right bell housing.

The C4 only has a small block bell, so it will be a direct bolt up.

C-4 or AOD as John said but for your info the C-6 can be found with a small block pattern, I've got one behind my 351W but I'm looking at going with an AOD for the overdrive.
