i have a buddy that runs the bypass system also he says it helps a ton but for the cost of the filter im pretty happy with the reg system
I hear ya on the filter pricing. I got a deal on 3 of them recently. When I change my oil it comes out almost as clean as when it went in. Not having all that soot in the oil has to be extending bearing life. I change the bypass filter every other oil change.

I'm not running a bypass. I've got the BPD oil cooler kit installed and haven't cleaned the IPR since I installed it all last year. It has a ridiculously large filter on it so soot hasn't been a concern although my oil is black as pitch. I just consider that the oil is doing it's job.
Of course when I hooked up the DD this morning and data logged it from cold start to back home when it always has a fit it never burped, hiccuped, farted or missed a lick.

That's just typical. When you want it to do something it won't.
Wow! That screen looks very fragile, what are you going to use to scrub it?
After taking some carb cleaner to the screen nothing happened.....and I discovered what the "mystery substance" was. Paper towel trash from trying to be "too clean" I suppose, and I know better . I have a feeling there's more in there that I'll address when I install my new EGR delete unless the truck gets completely stupid before then.
